With reference to your letter 26822/1911 of the
,of 23rd. instant I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey
to transmit to you, to be laid before Ir. Secretary
Harcourt, copy of a letter from Messrs. E. D. Sassoon
and Company respecting the importation of uncertified
opium into Hongkong.
Sir E. Grey proposes to inform Messrs. Sassoon
that the importation of Indian uncertified opium into
that Colony will be prohibited from the 1st. September
next, and I am to request that he may be informed with
as little delay as possible whether Mr. Harcourt con-
curs in this reply.
